At the end of 2014, we learned that some students with autism and limited verbal ability in Taipei could type sentences on their tablet computer through phonetic input method. Compared with some Hong Kong students using communication cards to express themselves, they could express what was in their mind more freely. To explore this model of student support, representatives of Hong Chi schools not only attended relevant courses in Taipei but also invited experts and students from Taipei to explain and demonstrate in person in Hong Kong. We were deeply impressed by the excellent performance of the Taipei students. With reference to the support model of Taipei, educational psychologists of Hong Chi schools put forth the CRAFT model in Hong Kong whereby students will achieve prosperous transformation through enhanced communication and relationship and improved adaptability.
